The service learning project and essays really opened up a new way to view the world for me. Although my lifestyle in the world will remain relatively similar, I have a new lense to look through when seeing the lives and cultures of minorities. It brought a very static and narrow understanding of what hip hop culture is and unearthed many shades of grey to what was previously a black and white subject. Because of that, I feel like I can walk away from this entire experience feeling more complete and well rounded as an individual, and isn't an experience I would regret.
